CLAPOTIS - Pierre Frey (F)

Clapotis is part of the Pierre Frey Éternel Été collection. The design was inspired by the reflections of the sun on the water of the sea, resulting in many shades and colors. 

When Lison showed me the design I was surprised for 2 reasons. First, it was completely away from what other houses were working on at the time (this is a fun part of my job, to see things 2 years before anyone else does). And second, because it was so recognisable and transports you to summer in the wink of an eye.

They already had set their mind to our Silky Look base material. It is a luxurious material made from Japanese non-woven and matched with a sparkle of silver, gold or platinum.

I received several inspirational pictures to try possible color combinations. From yellow citrus plants to blue skies and pottery. Mixing and matching in a digital way. When those files and samples were made, the Pierre Frey design team fine tuned them to their taste, ending up with 4 color ways for the Clapotis design and adding 3 plains to match, called Nimes.

However charged the design, the color combinations make it calming, even hypnotic, and not at all  overwelming on the wall.

A beautiful product and a collection that is waiting to be expanded!
